Manufacturing Configuration Engineering Manager

This role will be located at our Knoxville, Tennessee facility. 

Overview:

You will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and traceability of all product configurations throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain configuration control processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. You will be the manufacturing focal for all things CAD and PLM utilizing Siemens NX and Teamcenter.

 Responsibilities:

 Configuration Identification:

   - Work Closely with Design Engineering and Define and maintain product configurations, including bill of materials (BOM), drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation that is used in the production/manufacturing of product.

   - Establish naming conventions and part numbering systems to uniquely identify components, assemblies, tools, programs, and other manufacturing artifacts. 

 PLM Administration:

   - Create and maintain the manufacturing workspace in PLM. 

   - Create, maintain, and train on any workflows, approval loops, etc in PLM. 

   - Create content and train employees on Teamcenter, NX, Design for Manufacturing, etc. 

 CAD Design and Training for Manufacturing:

   - Be the focal point for NX and Teamcenter as the primary resource for the manufacturing team to rely on. 

   - Create templates and standards for design practices for manufacturing engineering. 

  - train the team on NX and Teamcenter best practices including design, design for manufacturing and assembly, CNC modules, Additive modules, etc. 

   - Develop and own Design for Manufacturing Standards. 

  - Participate in design reviews, manufacturing readiness reviews, and other cross-functional meetings to ensure alignment with configuration management processes and design for manufacturing. 

 Change Management:

   - Evaluate proposed changes to product configurations and assess their impact on manufacturing processes, cost, and schedule.

   - Coordinate with design engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to review and approve change requests.

   - Implement approved changes while ensuring proper documentation and communication throughout the organization.

 Configuration Status Accounting:

   - Establish mechanisms to track the status of all product configurations, including revisions, approvals, and release statuses.

   - Generate and maintain configuration status reports to provide visibility into the current state of configurations and associated documentation.

   - Conduct periodic audits to verify the accuracy and completeness of product configurations and associated documentation.

 Process Improvement:

   - Continuously assess and improve configuration management processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.

   - Implement best practices and industry standards related to configuration management, such as AS9100. 

 Training and Documentation:

   - Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for personnel involved in configuration management processes.

   - Create and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions, to support configuration management activities.

 Qualifications:

 - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. 

-  Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or design engineering or a related industry, with experience in configuration management.

- Prior experience with configuration management responsibilities, such as configuration identification, change management, and status accounting.

- Strong understanding of configuration management principles and practices, particularly in the aerospace industry.

- Experience working with configuration management tools and software (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill, PDM, etc.).

- Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes, including machining, additive, assembly, and testing.

- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, etc.).

- Proven first principals in design and design for manufacturing. 

- Experience in 3D Cad and PLM (Siemens NX and Teamcenter preferred)

- Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams.

- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and compliance.

- Problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
